SRINAGAR, Aug 16: On the occasion of the 80th Independence Day of India, J&K Civil Society, along with Gandhi Global Family, Baba Amte Maharashtra organisations, Panchayat Prasad J&K and Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj, extends heartfelt greetings to the people of Jammu & Kashmir and the entire nation.
On this historic occasion, we pray for permanent peace, prosperity, development and brotherhood in Kashmir. Our collective resolve must be to preserve the age-old traditions of harmony, mutual respect and coexistence that have been the strength of Kashmiri society.
We strongly reiterate our appeal for the honourable return of our Kashmiri Pandit brothers and sisters, with dignity, security and at the place of their choice in the Valley. Those who were compelled to leave Kashmir must be enabled to return through a structured, meaningful and time-bound process initiated by the Government.
The people of Kashmir are not cowardly and will not be intimidated by threats issued by militant groups or forces inimical to peace. No individual, group or country should believe that threats can weaken the resolve of the people of Kashmir to live together in peace and brotherhood.
The majority community has a special responsibility to uphold the age-old traditions of brotherhood, mutual respect and coexistence in Kashmir. Protecting the dignity, security and rights of every community is a collective responsibility.
We once again urge the Government to immediately begin a comprehensive process for the honourable return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits, with dignity, security and complete freedom to choose their place of residence in the Valley. Permanent peace, development, brotherhood and the honourable return of our displaced brothers and sisters should be the shared resolve of every Kashmiri. |
