| Dogra Degree College celebrates World Entrepreneurs Day 2026 | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 22: Dogra Degree College (Autonomous) celebrated World Entrepreneurs Day 2026 under the aegis of the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) with enthusiastic participation from students of BBA and B.Com Semester I. The programme was organised with the objective of nurturing an entrepreneurial mindset and encouraging students to explore innovation, creativity, initiative, leadership and problem-solving. The celebration provided students with a platform to move beyond theoretical learning and engage with real-world challenges through the theme "From Ideas to Impact." A student presentation activity was organised in which teams presented ideas around pressing issues, entrepreneurial ventures and business leadership scenarios. Students presented diverse and thought-provoking ideas including road connectivity problems in Jammu & Kashmir; "From J&K to Shark Tank - Namya business model; drug addiction in Jammu & Kashmir; Dermatouch - "How would I run this business as an owner?"; athletic problems in Jammu & Kashmir; "The Entrepreneurial Journey of Bonkers Corner"; unemployment as an economic issue; KoshurIndia - "If given chance how would I run the business?"; and "If I were the owner of Mamaearth for a day." A key highlight of the programme was the students' ability to identify problems and think through possible solutions. Dermatouch - Group emerged as the strongest presentation, particularly for its clear identification of a problem, proposed solution. KoshurIndia-Group secured the second position, followed by The Entrepreneurial Journey of Bonkers Corner-Group in third position. The winning teams and their members were also recognised during the programme. The programme also featured an insightful address by guest Dr. Vinod Kumar, Teaching Associate, JKEDI, who shared valuable perspectives on entrepreneurship, start-ups and emerging opportunities. He encouraged students to develop an innovative, opportunity-oriented and proactive approach towards their careers and future ventures. Dr. Kumar also congratulated the students for showing creativity, confidence, innovative thinking and an ability to identify real-world problems and develop entrepreneurial solutions. Dr. Bela Thakur, Director, Dogra Group of Colleges, encouraged students to develop the habit of asking, "What problem can I solve? Her message highlighted the importance of developing an opportunity-oriented mindset and viewing challenges as opportunities for innovation and enterprise. She extended her guidance and support for the programme's successful conduct. |
