Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 22: Tawi Welfare Society in collaboration with Health Department Jammu, organised a Free Eye Check-Up and Screening Camp today at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Satwari, Jammu, with the aim of providing timely eye screening and basic healthcare support to students and staff. The Camp was formally inaugurated by Mrs. Vandana Gupta Principal Government Girls Higher Secondary School Satwari. The camp was conducted by a dedicated team from Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu, comprising Dr. Rajni Gupta, Senior Consultant Eye; Dr. Mohd. Harris, PG Eye; Mr. Mohd. Sadiq, Senior Ophthalmic Technician; Miss Mehreen, Ophthalmic Technician Intern and Sh. Aftab Ahmed, MAMS Intern. The team carried out detailed and careful eye examinations of the students and staff. Tawi Welfare Society expressed its sincere gratitude to Dr. Sanjay Arora, Medical Superintendent and Dr. Jyoti Katoch, HOD Eye Department, Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu, for their prompt support, personal involvement and for deputing such a dedicated and competent medical team at very short notice. The camp proved highly successful, with more than 200 students and staff members being thoroughly screened. A significant finding was that 52 students were found to have difficulty even in reading the first alphabet "A" on the vision chart, highlighting the importance of regular eye screening among school-going children. Free medicines, including eye drops, Vitamin-B complex syrup and iron tablets, were also provided to the needy students on the spot. Speaking on the occasion, Nand Kishor, Senior Member of Tawi Welfare Society, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Health Department and particularly the team of Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu for making the camp a meaningful and memorable success. He also thanked the Principal and school authorities for placing their faith in the Organisation and extending full cooperation. In her vote of thanks, Principal Mrs. Vandana Gupta appreciated the medical team for showing extraordinary dedication and patience while examining the students. She also lauded Tawi Welfare Society for organising such a timely, useful and student-friendly healthcare initiative.
