| Crackdown on bovine smugglers continue by Samba police | | | Early Times Report SAMBA, Aug 22: Continuing its sustained crackdown against bovine smuggling and their propagators, Samba Police has successfully foiled a bovine smuggling attempt within the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba. In the operation, one bovine smuggler was arrested, 15 bovines were rescued and the vehicle used for their illegal transportation was seized. Acting on reliable information regarding the illegal transportation of bovines, a joint police team from Police Station Samba and Police Post Supwal launched an operation and established naka points along the National Highway at Mansar Morh and Supwal. During the operation, police team intercepted a Canter truck bearing registration No. DL1MA-5782 at Supwal which was coming from Kathua side and moving towards Srinagar. Earlier, the driver of vehicle when signaled to stop at Mansar Naka, accelerated the speed and fled away from the spot. The police party immediately gave chase and successfully intercepted and stopped the vehicle at Supwal. During search and checking, fifteen bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission. The driver of the vehicle identified as Shakoor Ahmad S/o Altaf Din R/o Rajeev Nagar Narwal district Jammu was apprehended on the spot and taken into custody. All the bovines have been rescued and the vehicle has also been seized. A case FIR No. 240/2026 u/s 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started. Samba Police reiterated its firm commitment to taking strict legal action against individuals involved in bovine smuggling and other organized illegal activities. |
