| JK Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum holds general meeting in Srinagar | | |  Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Aug 24: A General Meeting of the Jammu & Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum (JKRETTF) was held today in Srinagar under the leadership of Forum Chairman Farooq Ahmad Tantray. The meeting discussed various issues confronting teachers as well as important organizational matters.
According to a statement issued by Forum Spokesperson Muzafar Ahmad Wani, the participants strongly condemned the heinous incident involving a minor girl in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar and demanded the strictest possible punishment for the person involved in the crime.
During the meeting, the Forum members expressed serious concern and resentment over the exclusion of Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers from the recently introduced Transfer Policy. They urged the government to extend the benefits of the transfer policy to Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers as well.
The members also expressed disappointment over the non-implementation of Government Order No. 115 with regard to retirement and other related benefits. They demanded that Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers appointed before 2010 be brought under the Old Pension Scheme in accordance with the provisions of the said Government Order.
The Forum further demanded the immediate release of pending Mid-Day Meal funds, including outstanding dues from certain months of the previous year, besides the current year's pending payments, so that teachers do not face further financial difficulties in running the scheme. The government was also urged to reduce the additional burden of various online assignments being imposed on teachers.
The Forum appealed for the expeditious disposal of One-Time Exemption cases of teachers pursuing higher education and for the issuance of necessary permissions without further delay.
The demand for the conversion of Teacher Grade-III teachers who have completed their Graduation and B.Ed. qualifications to Teacher Grade-II was also reiterated. Special emphasis was laid on resolving the cases of eligible teachers belonging to Kishtwar, Doda, the Pir Panjal region, Reasi and Udhampur districts at the earliest.
The meeting also discussed several other issues concerning the teaching community and urged the government to address them on a priority basis. |
