Jorhat (Assam), Aug 29: Three students drowned in a pond in Assam’s Jorhat district on Saturday, police said. A group of 10-12 boys had gone to celebrate the birthday of one of their friends on the banks of a pond in the Cinnamara tea estate near Jorhat town, they said. The three boys are suspected to have got into the pond for a bath, when they drowned, police said. The bodies were later recovered by State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel, they said. The victims were identified as Akshat Kumar Roy, Sushanta Patel and Rehan. All were students of a local private school, with Rehan studying in class 9 and the other two, in class 11. |
