Jammu, Aug 29: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, which is celebrated as National Sports Day across India, the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Sports Training Centre, Jammu, is organising various sports and fitness activities from 28th to 30th August 2026, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council and 76th CRPF Battalion. As part of the three-day celebrations, a Cycling Rally was successfully organised at Jammu. Various other sports activities and matches are also being organised during the celebrations with the objective of promoting fitness, healthy living, sportsmanship and awareness about the importance of sports and physical activity. The Cycling Rally witnessed the enthusiastic participation of around 100 participants, including officials, personnel of the 76th CRPF Battalion, coaches, staff members and athletes. The event was attended by Shri Manish Kumar, JKAS, Sports Officer, Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council; Shri Bashir Ahmed, Divisional Sports Officer, Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council; Shri S.S. Gill, Secretary, Cycling Association of Jammu and Kashmir; Shri Ravi, Cycling Association of Jammu and Kashmir; and Shri Touseef Ahmed, Incharge, SAI STC Jammu. The personnel of the 76th CRPF Battalion who actively participated in the event included Shri Ajeet Pal (AE), Insp. Baljit Singh, SI Neeraj Kumar, ASI Mohan Rajak, ASI Bakar Singh, ASI Rohit Kumar and ASI Debabrata Ghosh. The staff members, coaches and athletes of SAI STC Jammu also actively participated in the event. All the participants displayed great enthusiasm, discipline and sporting spirit throughout the Cycling Rally. The three-day celebration aims to inspire youth and the community to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle through sports and physical activities. The programme also highlights the importance of sports, fitness and physical well-being in daily life. |
