Vijaypur, Aug 29: Government Degree College Vijaypur celebrated National Sports Day on 29 August 2026 with great enthusiasm and sporting spirit, commemorating the birth anniversary of legendary Indian hockey player Major Dhyan Chand.
The event aimed to promote sports, physical fitness, discipline, teamwork and a healthy lifestyle among students. Various sporting activities, particularly Volleyball and Tug of War, were organized, providing students an opportunity to demonstrate their talent, teamwork and competitive spirit.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Sanjeet Kour, Principal, Government Degree College Vijaypur. The Principal appreciated the active participation of students and emphasized the importance of sports in developing discipline, confidence, leadership qualities and overall personality.
The event was coordinated by Amit Sharma, Director Physical Education & Sports, and Dr. Anoop Kumar, Convenor, NCORD. Faculty members Dr. Manoj Heer, Professor Neetu, Dr. Arti Sharma, Professor Meetu Sharma, Professor Anoop Singh and Mr. Rajesh were also present and extended their support in making the celebration successful.
The celebration concluded with a message encouraging students to actively participate in sports and adopt a healthy and physically active lifestyle. The event reflected the college’s commitment to fostering a strong sports culture and holistic development of students. |
