| Anti- drug awareness campaign held at GHSS Beararu - Bhaderwah | | | Early Times Report
BHADERWAH, Aug 31: As part of the ongoing efforts to promote a drug-free society and sensitise the younger generation against the dangers of substance abuse, the Department of Social Welfare Bhaderwah, in collaboration with the Education and Police Departments, organised an anti-drug Awareness IEC (Information, Education and Communication) Campaign at Government Higher Secondary School, Beararu- Bhaderwah.
The programme aimed to educate students about the physical, psychological, social and economic consequences of drug and substance abuse and motivate them to adopt a healthy, responsible and drug-free lifestyle.
During the awareness session, students were sensitised to the serious risks associated with substance abuse and its adverse impact on health, education, family life, social relationships and future prospects. The speakers stressed the importance of prevention, early intervention, positive peer support and active family involvement in tackling the menace of drug abuse.
Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Shahnawaz Ahmad highlighted the growing challenges posed by drug abuse and appealed to students to remain focused on their studies and work hard to bring pride and honour to their parents, teachers and society. He urged them to develop strong moral values, discipline and a sense of responsibility, while becoming responsible and productive members of society.
Principal of the School Anjeel Kumar Thakur highlighted the vital role of educational institutions, teachers and parents in preventing substance abuse among children and adolescents. He urged students to make responsible choices, maintain discipline and channelise their time and energy towards studies, sports and other productive activities.
Students Aatif Hussain of Class XI and Iqra Nissar of Class XII also delivered thought-provoking speeches on the harmful effects of drug abuse.
The programme concluded with anti- drug pledge with Students and participants resolving firmly to stay away from drugs and intoxicating substances and contribute towards building a healthy, safe and drug-free society. |
