Early Times Report REASI, Aug 31: Continuing its sustained campaign against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Reasi Police made two significant recoveries of heroin (Chitta) during naka checking operations at different locations in District Reasi. During naka checking at Talwara Naka, a vehicle bearing Registration No. JK20C-9558 (Ignis) was intercepted for checking. During the checking, the occupants of the vehicle were identified as: 1. Krishan Paul Singh, S/o Shiptan Singh, R/o Thanpal, Tehsil Thakrakote, District Reasi 2. Romesh Singh, S/o Lal Singh, R/o Khuldi, Baldhanoo, Tehsil Thakrakote, District Reasi 3. Vipan Singh, S/o Sansar Singh, R/o Baldhanoo, Tehsil Thakrakote, District Reasi During their personal search, 6.78 grams of heroin (Chitta) was recovered from their possession. All three accused were arrested on the spot and the recovered contraband was seized. In this connection, FIR No. 155/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Reasi, and further investigation is underway. In another operation, during the evening hours, a naka was laid at Satyalta Junction near IRP Chowk. A person travelling from Sula towards Reasi was stopped for checking. Upon questioning, he disclosed his identity as Deepak Kumar S/o Vijay Kumar, R/o Trintha Reasi @ Chini. The individual is a habitual offender and is found to be involved in two NDPS cases in the past As the individual was behaving suspiciously and appeared perturbed, his personal search was conducted on the spot. During the search, 4.50 grams of heroin (Chitta) was recovered from his possession. Accordingly, FIR No. 156/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Reasi, and further investigation is in progress. Reasi Police reiterates its commitment to combating the menace of drugs and urges the general public to cooperate with law-enforcement agencies in making the district drug-free. |
