UDHAMPUR, Sept 2: Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS, DIG of Police, Udhampur-Reasi Range, today convened a security review meeting at RPHQ Udhampur to review the preparedness of the Police and other concerned agencies for the forthcoming Janamashtami festival and Kailash Kund Yatra.
The meeting was attended by Amritpal Singh IPS, SSP Udhampur, Mukund Tibrewal, IPS, SSP Reasi, Pardeep Kumar Giri, CO CRPF 6th BN Katra, Manoj Verma, CO CRPF 126th Bn Reasi, Manish Kumar Yadav, CO CRPF 187th Bn Udhampur, Sandeep Bhat-JKPS, Addl.SP Udhampur, Kameshwar Puri-JKPS, Addl. SP Katra, Iftikar Ahmed-JKPS, Addl. SP Reasi, Army, CRPF, Dy.CID CI/SB and Traffic. The DIG reviewed the overall security preparedness and directed the officers to ensure close coordination, enhanced vigilance and effective deployment of resources for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the upcoming religious events.
During the meeting, various aspects concerning law and order, security arrangements, intelligence gathering, inter-agency coordination, crowd management, traffic regulation and emergency response were reviewed. The officers were briefed to maintain heightened alertness and ensure prompt sharing and assessment of inputs so as to further strengthen the security grid.
The DIG stressed upon the officers to remain proactive, responsive and accessible to the public, while maintaining close coordination with the civil administration, security agencies, religious bodies and other stakeholders.
Special emphasis was laid on ensuring adequate security and safety arrangements at temples and other important religious places, particularly in view of the expected congregation of devotees during Janamashtami. The officers were directed to maintain regular liaison with the management committees and ensure necessary measures for the safety and convenience of devotees.
The DIG further directed all officers to ensure seamless coordination, professional conduct and strict adherence to the established security protocols, while keeping the arrangements people-friendly and facilitative.
Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS, emphasized that J&K Police remains committed to ensuring a safe, secure and peaceful environment for devotees and the general public and called upon all ranks to remain vigilant and discharge their duties with utmost dedication and professionalism.
The meeting concluded with directions for all concerned officers to maintain close supervision of the arrangements and remain fully prepared to meet any emerging requirement during the forthcoming religious events. |
