| Shameema holds meeting to finalise preparations for Sept 08 programme | | |  Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Sept 4: A meeting of the Women's Wing of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference was held at the party headquarters. The meeting was chaired by President Women's Wing and MLA Habba Kadal Shameema Firdous and organised by Provincial President Women's Wing Er. Sabiya Qadri.
District presidents and other office-bearers of the Women's Wing participated in the meeting. Detailed discussions were held on issues and difficulties faced by the people, the provision of basic necessities, challenges confronting women, and public expectations from the government.
Addressing the meeting Shameema Firdous said that the democratically elected government is still not being allowed to function effectively with hurdles being created in its functioning and attempts being made to undermine and discredit the National Conference government through various means.
She said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir had given the National Conference a clear mandate to run the affairs of the region. However, she regretted that despite the successful conduct of elections, an undemocratic system continues to be imposed due to what she described as misguided and insensitive policies of New Delhi.
The meeting was also briefed in detail about the programmes being organised to commemorate the 44th death anniversary of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. Discussions were also held regarding the activities and forthcoming programmes of the Women's Wing.
Addressing the meeting, Er. Sabiya Qadri said that the party will commemorate the 44th death anniversary of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on December 8, 2026. She said that Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah will always be remembered in the history of Jammu and Kashmir as a towering leader who brought people out of the darkness of oppression, subjugation and injustice and showed them the path of dignity, self-respect and empowerment.
She said that his political struggle and people-oriented leadership breathed new life into the spirit and collective dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. "Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah truly lived up to his title, guiding the people of Jammu and Kashmir towards self-respect, education and political consciousness," she said. |
