Samba police foils 2 bovine smuggling attempts; arrests 3 bovine smugglers, rescues 5 bovines

SAMBA, Sept 4: Continuing its drive against bovine smugglers and their propagators, Samba Police has successfully foiled two bovine smuggling attempts in two separate cases within the jurisdiction of Police Stations Samba and Ramgarh by arresting three bovine smugglers and rescuing five (05) bovines. The vehicle used in the illegal transportation of bovines was also seized. Acting swiftly on reliable information regarding illegal movement of bovines, a team of Police Post Mansar of PS Samba, launched an operation in the Pdeh Top area.
During the operation, police intercepted the movement of three bovines being smuggled on foot from Pdeh Top towards District Udhampur without any valid permission. The bovines were rescued and the accused identified as Mohd Barru S/o Nazir R/o Bhatyari tehsil Dansal Jindrah District Jammu involved in the illegal bovine smuggling was apprehended.
A case FIR No. 251/2026 u/s 223 BNS has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
In another successful operation, a team of Police Station Ramgarh, acting on reliable information, intercepted an Auto Load Carrier bearing Registration No. JK02CU/7411 near Nandpur.
The vehicle was proceeding from Nandpur towards Bishnah District Jammu when it was stopped for checking. During the search, police found two bovines loaded inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission.
The driver of the vehicle namely Chander Paul S/o Dev Raj R/o Maralian Miran Sahib District Jammu and co-driver namely Bodh Raj S/o Kaka Ram R/o Badhipur Salaria Tehsil Bishnah District Jammu have been arrested. However, another accused identified as Rashpaul Singh @ Chuchu S/o Girdhari Lal R/o Palouta, Ramgarh District Samba, who was travelling in the vehicle, managed to escape from the spot. Efforts are on to nab the absconding accused. All the bovines have been rescued and the vehicle has also been seized.
A case FIR No. 60/2026 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ramgarh and investigation started. Samba Police reiterated its firm commitment to curbing bovine smuggling, illegal transportation of animals and assured that strict legal action will be taken against all persons found involved in such unlawful activities.
