| Khatana appeals to LG for suo motu action under SC/ST Act over alleged growing incidents of torture and discrimination against tribals in J&K | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 5: On the occasion of Teacher's Day, BJP senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Er. Ghulam Ali Khatana paid rich tributes to teachers for their invaluable contribution to society and described them as the community that shapes generations through knowledge, discipline, guidance and character-building.
Speaking at a Teacher's Day function organised at PM Shri Government High School, Bathindi, Khatana said that teachers occupy a unique and respected position in society as they possess the ability to educate, guide and inspire young minds through their words and wisdom.
"Teachers are the only community that uses words to make us understand things; even I cannot use the words that teachers use to explain and educate," Khatana said while appreciating the vital role played by teachers in shaping the lives and future of students.
He appreciated the Headmistress and the entire teaching staff for their dedication and commitment towards educating students and said that teachers play a crucial role in building responsible citizens and strengthening the future of the nation.
Teacher's Day is celebrated across India on September 5 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India, eminent philosopher and educationist. The occasion provides an opportunity for students and society to express their gratitude and respect towards teachers for their invaluable contribution to education and nation-building.
Speaking to local media persons on the sidelines of the programme, Khatana also reacted to the reported incident at a Gujjar hostel in Doda. He raised serious concerns over the alleged condition of tribal hostels and alleged irregularities in the utilisation of funds meant for the welfare and development of tribal communities.
Khatana further alleged that cooks and other workers serving in certain tribal hostels were facing delays in receiving their legitimate payments. He accused the Omar Abdullah-led government and its ministers of failing to adequately safeguard the interests and welfare of tribal communities. |
