| Police foil two bovine smuggling attempts, rescue 22 bovine animals | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Sept 6: Continuing its efforts to curb illegal smuggling of bovine animals, Rajouri Police foiled two separate attempts of illegal bovine transportation in Thanamandi and Kalakote areas, rescuing a total of 22 bovine animals and seizing the vehicles involved. In the first incident Police Party of Police Station Thanamandi intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK14C-1618 at Vikas Bridge Naka Thanamandi while it was coming from the Rajouri. During checking the vehicle was found loaded with 20 bovine animals. The vehicle was being driven by Sheraz Ahmed S/o Haibullah R/o Behrote. The animals were being transported without valid permission. In another incident Police Party of Police Station Kalakote while conducting patrolling duty in the Panjnara area noticed an electric auto-rickshaw bearing registration number JK11J-9852 travelling towards Rajouri. On noticing the police party the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot. During checking two bovine animals were found loaded inside the auto-rickshaw also being transported without valid permission. In connection with these incidents, FIR No. 126/2026 at Police Station Thanamandi and FIR No. 43/2026 at Police Station Kalakote have been registered under relevant sections of law. The seized vehicles and rescued bovine animals have been dealt with as per prescribed legal procedure, while further investigation in both cases is underway. Rajouri Police reiterates its commitment to preventing illegal transportation of bovine animals and taking strict legal action against persons involved in such activities. |
