| PTTI Vijaypur conductes special lecture and practical training on disaster management | | |  Early Times Report
VIJAYPUR, Sept 7: The Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI), Vijaypur, today organized a comprehensive lecture and practical training programme on Disaster Management for police trainees, with the objective of enhancing their preparedness, response capabilities and rescue skills during natural and man-made disasters. Shri Ranjit Singh Sambyal, IPS, Principal PTTI Vijaypur inaugurated the session in presence of the trainees and staff. Shri Sunil Dutt Prasad, Deputy Commandant, 13 NDRF Samba and his team, who, as the resource persons, delivered an informative and comprehensive lecture covering various types of disasters, including GLOF (Glacial Lake Outburst Floods, cloud burst floods, earthquakes, fires, landslides, road accidents and other emergency situations.
He highlighted the importance of advance preparedness, prompt response, coordinated rescue operations and adherence to established safety protocols while dealing with disaster situations. Following the lecture, a team of NDRF experts conducted an extensive hands-on practical training session for the trainees. Live demonstrations and practical exercises on essential emergency-response techniques, including CPR, MFR, CSSR and other rescue procedures, were conducted to equip the trainees with the skills required to respond effectively during critical situations.
The programme was attended by around 700 personnel, including officers, instructors and BRTC trainees of PTTI Vijaypur. The practical orientation provided the participants with valuable exposure to modern rescue techniques and strengthened their confidence in handling disaster and emergency situations. Speaking on the occasion, Principal appreciated the NDRF team for conducting the highly informative and practical session. He emphasized that disaster response is an essential component of modern policing and stressed the need for continuous training, technological awareness and practical skill development among police personnel. He further highlighted that police personnel are often among the first responders during disasters, making it imperative for them to possess the requisite knowledge, discipline and rescue skills to save lives, minimize damage and provide immediate assistance to affected communities. The programme concluded with the presentation of a memento/certificate to the resource persons as a token of appreciation for their valuable contribution and professional guidance. |
