| Jammu police arrests one with 12.73 Grams of suspected Heroin/Chitta in Bishnah | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 9: Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking and the menace of narcotic substances, Jammu Police has apprehended one person and recovered 12.73 grams of suspected heroin/chitta during naka checking in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bishnah. During routine patrolling and naka checking, a police party of Police Station Bishnah noticed a Swift VDI vehicle bearing registration number JK02BM-8657 approaching the naka. On noticing the police presence, the driver allegedly attempted to turn the vehicle around and evade checking. Acting swiftly, the police party intercepted the vehicle and conducted a search in accordance with law. During the checking, a white-coloured polythene packet containing a suspected heroin/chitta-like substance was recovered from the possession of the person. On weighing, the suspected contraband was found to be 12.73 grams. The apprehended person has been identified as Vicky Sharma, resident of Bana Chak, Bishnah, Jammu. In this connection, FIR No. 167/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/25 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bishnah. The suspected contraband and the vehicle have been taken into possession as per prescribed legal procedure. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the suspected contraband and to identify other persons or links associated with the illicit narcotics network. Jammu Police reiterates its firm commitment to combating drug trafficking and curbing the circulation of narcotic substances in society. The general public is urged to cooperate with the Police and share information regarding drug trafficking or drug abuse so that timely action can be taken in accordance with law. |
