Free Breast & Cervical Cancer screening camp organized at Village Trewa

Jammu, Sept 12: Under Project AAROHI, a Free Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Initiative exclusively for women was successfully organized at Village Trewa, Block Bishnah, Jammu. Supported by General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC Re) and implemented by Human Organisation For Patronisation of Environment (HOPE), the camp promoted women’s health, cancer awareness, early detection, and timely medical intervention.
The camp brought together medical professionals, academic experts, participant students from the Central University of Jammu, local high school students, and residents of Panchayat Trewa.

Dr. Babita – Director of Field Work, Department of Social Work, Central University of Jammu
Dr. Surbi Kudyar – Breast Onco-Surgeon, ASCOMS

Awareness & Medical Guidance
A comprehensive session sensitized women to breast and cervical cancer, risk factors, early warning signs, preventive measures, and the importance of regular screening.
Dr. Vinay Kumar and Dr. Minkle also provided valuable awareness and guidance on women’s health, cancer prevention, early detection, and the importance of timely medical consultation. Dr. Surbi Kudyar, Breast Onco-Surgeon, ASCOMS, provided guidance on breast health, early detection, and timely medical consultation. The team emphasized that early detection can significantly improve treatment outcomes and encouraged women to overcome hesitation and stigma, maintain a healthy lifestyle, undergo regular screening, and promptly consult healthcare professionals about unusual symptoms or changes.

HOPE sincerely appreciates Dr. Vinay Kumar, Dr. Minkle, Dr. Babita, and Dr. Surbi Kudyar for their valuable presence, awareness sessions, academic and medical guidance, coordination, and dedicated support in advancing women’s health, community awareness, student participation, early detection, and timely screening through Project AAROHI.
HOPE also appreciates the active participation of the Central University of Jammu students, local high school students, and local residents of Panchayat Trewa, whose involvement contributed significantly to the successful organization of the awareness and screening camp.
Camp Outcome
The camp successfully combined medical expertise, academic support, student participation, and community awareness to promote women’s health and cancer prevention. Beneficiaries received screening, medical guidance, and information on early detection and timely treatment. The HOPE team supported the smooth conduct of the camp under Project AAROHI, helping make cancer awareness and screening services accessible to women in the community. The camp concluded successfully, reinforcing the importance of early detection, regular screening, and collective community action for women’s health.
