JAMMU, Sept 17: MLA Bahu Ch. Vikram Randhawa today initiated the reconstruction work of the nallah protection wall in Sanjay Nagar, Ward No. 46, at an estimated cost of ?50 lakh.
The work is being executed under the Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED). The earlier wall had been severely damaged and collapsed at several places, creating a serious safety hazard for local residents and posing a risk to the surrounding area.
The commencement of the work took place in the presence of Mandal President Sh. Sahil Mahajan, his team, prominent local residents, and UEED officials, including the concerned XEN, AEE, JE and contractor.
While speaking on the occasion, MLA Ch. Vikram Randhawa said that the severely damaged nallah wall had become a serious threat to the safety of local residents, particularly during heavy rainfall. He assured the people that their genuine concerns would be addressed on priority and stressed that the reconstruction must be completed with quality and within the stipulated timeline.
MLA Randhawa directed the concerned officials and contractor to ensure quality construction, adherence to prescribed specifications and timely completion of the project. He emphasised that strengthening the nallah infrastructure would help improve safety and provide relief to the residents of the area.
The local residents welcomed the commencement of the work and expressed their gratitude to MLA Ch. Vikram Randhawa for taking up their long-pending concern and initiating the reconstruction of the damaged wall. |
