UDHAMPUR, Sept 18: To bring specialized veterinary healthcare to remote areas, the Animal Husbandry Department Udhampur organized a comprehensive clinical-cum-awareness camp via its Mobile Veterinary Unit (MVU) at the far-off village of Jangle Gali in Ladda Panchayat at an altitude of about 2200 M in Tehsil Moungri, located nearly 52 kilometers from the District Headquarters.
The 4th such camp in the third phase of special outreach programme of the Department witnessed an overwhelming response, with approximately 240 livestock farmers actively participating.
Livestock were provided on-the-spot clinical diagnosis and treatment, along with free distribution of essential medicines to the attending farmers.
Experts educated attendees on recognizing, preventing, and managing critical livestock ailments, including Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD), Hemorrhagic Septicemia (HS), Black Quarter (BQ), and various breeding-related disorders.
Farmers received detailed guidance on government-sponsored schemes designed to boost rural livelihoods, including the Integrated Dairy Development Scheme (IDDS), Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP), Kisan Credit Card (KCC), and ABIP-SS Scheme
The event was presided over by Dr. Anwar Hussain Nagoo, Superintendent District Veterinary Hospital Udhampur. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Nagoo highlighted the vital role of modern veterinary practices in boosting rural economies, with a special emphasis on the World Health Organization's (WHO) "One Health" concept, which links animal, human, and environmental well-being.
The camp was supported by a team of veterinary experts, including Dr. Tawheed Ahmad (Livestock Development Officer, Udhampur), Dr. Fahiq (Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Jib), and Dr. Shipra Gupta (Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, MVU), all of whom extended their technical expertise to provide consultations and solutions to the local farming community. |
