JAMMU, Sept 18: The School of Biotechnology (SBT), University of Jammu, organised an outreach and extension activity for nursing students of BEE ENN College of Nursing, providing them an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the School's state-of-the-art infrastructure and research facilities. The School is supported by major national funding agencies, including DBT, DST, SERB, RUSA and PURSE, and has established international collaborations, reflecting its strong academic and research ecosystem.
At the outset, Prof. Madhulika Bhagat, Director, School of Biotechnology, warmly welcomed the visiting students. She apprised them of the academic programmes offered by the School, including Master's degree programmes in Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Microbiology, and highlighted the vast scope and interdisciplinary nature of these fields. She encouraged the students to make the most of their visit by actively interacting with faculty members and research scholars.
Dr. Ankit Mahajan highlighted the courses and research opportunities available at the School, followed by an interactive session with the students. The students were subsequently acquainted with various facilities at the School and visited several research laboratories, including the Fungal Biotechnology, Fermentation Technology, Plant Genomics, Metagenomics, Immunogenetics, Plant Molecular Biology and Animal Cell Culture laboratories.
Around 60 students from BEE ENN College of Nursing, accompanied by Radhika Sharma, Associate Professor, Microbiology; Rimple Pathania, Nursing Tutor; and Nand Kishore, Clinical Instructor, visited the school as part of its outreach and extension programme.
The visit also included a tour of the Advanced Instrumentation Facility, where the students were introduced to high-end scientific equipment and their applications. The students displayed great enthusiasm and curiosity throughout the visit, actively interacting with research scholars and gaining valuable insights into ongoing research activities at the school. |
