Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 18: Paying tribute to the enduring legacy of Late Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, Jammu West MLA Arvind Gupta today initiated Rs 10 lakh CDF-funded project for the upgradation and renovation of the Bua Datti Community Hall in Ward No. 39, Patoli Mangotrian, Jammu.
The upgraded facility will be dedicated in the memory of Late Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, a senior BJP leader and former Union Minister who had a longstanding association with Bua Datti and its affairs. Prof. Gupta remained closely associated with the management and activities of the temple and had been instrumental in matters related to the project, which had remained pending since 2011.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Arvind Gupta said that dedicating the facility in Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta's memory was a meaningful way of remembering his longstanding association with the religious and social life of the area.
"Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta ji had a deep and longstanding association with Bua Datti. His connection with this sacred place and the local community was built over many years. He dedicated a significant part of his public life to serving society and remained closely connected with the people. Dedicating this facility in his memory is a humble tribute to his contribution and legacy."
Arvind Gupta said that the Bua Datti Community Hall project had remained pending since 2011, and its commencement now marks an important step towards addressing a longstanding requirement of the local community.
"This work had been pending since 2011, and it was important to finally move forward with it. As the elected representative of Jammu West, I believe that development works which directly benefit the community should receive priority. We have therefore taken up this Rs 10 lakh CDF-funded project so that the people can get a properly developed and functional community facility."
Following the tribute to Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, MLA Arvind Gupta formally initiated the upgradation and renovation work of the Bua Datti Community Hall, with an estimated cost of ?10 lakh under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Speaking about the religious significance of Bua Datti, Arvind Gupta said: "Bua Datti is an important centre of faith and devotion for the people of this area. It is not only a place of worship but also a place where the community comes together for religious, cultural and social activities. Our objective is to provide better facilities to devotees and residents while preserving the sanctity, traditions and cultural importance of this place."
He added: "The Rs 10 lakh CDF allocation is aimed at strengthening community infrastructure and addressing a requirement that has been pending for several years. Development should reach every ward and every community. Our focus in Jammu West is to take up practical, need-based works that make a direct difference to people's lives."
The renovation is intended to improve the infrastructure and functionality of the community hall, making it more suitable for religious functions, community gatherings and social activities.
Arvind Gupta also stressed the importance of balancing development with the preservation of religious and cultural heritage.
"Development and heritage must move together. When we improve infrastructure at a religious or community institution, we must ensure that its character, traditions and sanctity remain protected. Bua Datti has a special place in the hearts of the people, and our development efforts will respect that sentiment."
