CHANDIGARH, Sept 23: NHPC Limited, Regional Office, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, organized cleanliness and public awareness campaigns on 22 September 2026 at the cycle track in Sector-42 and on 23 September 2026 in and around Government Senior Secondary School, Sector-32C, Chandigarh.
Under the guidance of Shri Aditya Gautam, Executive Director, NHPC Regional Office, Chandigarh, various cleanliness and awareness activities are being organized under 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026' from 17 September to 02 October 2026.
As part of the awareness campaign, cleanliness activities were undertaken jointly with the staff of Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, at identified Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs). NHPC officers and employees, along with the staff of Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, actively participated in the cleanliness drive and contributed towards making the identified public areas cleaner and better.
During the campaign, local residents were also sensitized about cleanliness and proper waste management. Awareness pamphlets provided by the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, were distributed among the public. Through these pamphlets, citizens were encouraged to segregate wet waste, dry waste, domestic hazardous waste and sanitary waste and ensure their proper disposal.
Citizens were also sensitized about the importance of not littering or burning waste in the open, maintaining cleanliness at public places, and segregating waste into the prescribed categories at the time of waste collection. Information regarding the contact mechanisms provided by the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, for redressal of sanitation-related complaints was also shared with the public.
On the occasion, NHPC Regional Office, Chandigarh reaffirmed its commitment towards promoting cleanliness through public participation and contributing to the creation of a clean and healthy public environment. |
