JAMMU, Sept 23: Police Station Bahu Fort has achieved a major breakthrough in a house theft case with the arrest of the main accused and recovery of a substantial portion of the stolen property.
During the intervening night of 19/20 September 2026, a theft took place at the residential house of Puneesh Jain S/o Rajinder Jain, R/o H. No. 234/5, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, wherein jewellery, cash and other valuable articles were stolen.
In this connection, FIR No. 284/2026 U/S 331(4)/305 BNS was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort, and investigation was taken up immediately.
A dedicated police team was constituted to investigate the case. Through sustained investigation, technical inputs and examination of suspects, the main accused involved in the offence was identified and subsequently arrested.
The arrested accused has been identified as Sonu Dass Manikpuri S/o Dinesh Dass, R/o H. No. 117, Sector-7, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
During investigation, the accused disclosed his involvement in the commission of the theft, following which stolen property was recovered from his possession/disclosure in accordance with due legal procedure.
Stolen Property Recovered
The recovered property includes:
- 02 pairs of golden bangles (04 golden kadas)
- 01 pair of golden bangles (churi)
- 01 golden bracelet with red stone
- 01 golden chain
- 01 silver coin
- 02 pairs of yellowish/golden-coloured bangles
- 01 pair of silver-coloured bangles
- 01 artificial locket with chain and tops
- 01 silver bracelet/kada
- Cash amounting to ?3,200/-
The recovered stolen property is stated to be worth approximately ?25 lakh.
Further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of the offence, ascertain the involvement of any other person and recover the remaining stolen property, if any.
