Jammu, Sept 25: Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Pharmacy, Jammu successfully organized a series of academic, awareness and sports activities on the occasion of the 6th National Pharmacovigilance Week 2026. The programme aimed to create awareness among students regarding pharmacovigilance, adverse drug reaction reporting, rational use of medicines and patient safety.
The programme commenced on 17 September 2026 with the inauguration ceremony and speech competition. Students actively participated in the event and shared their views on the importance of pharmacovigilance. Mehran Ahmed, a D.Pharmacy 1st-year student, secured the first prize in the speech competition.
On 18 September 2026, a Quiz Competition was organized for the students. The 1st-year students emerged as the winners, demonstrating excellent knowledge and active participation.
On 19 September 2026, a Debate Competition was conducted, providing students an opportunity to express their views and develop their communication and critical-thinking skills. Rohit Sharma was declared the winner of the debate competition.
The celebrations also included various sports activities to promote teamwork, discipline and a healthy competitive spirit among students. On 21 September 2026, a Volleyball Match was organized, in which the 2nd-year students emerged victorious.
On 22 September 2026, a Cricket Match was held as part of the Pharmacovigilance Week celebrations. The 1st-year students won the match, while Faisal was awarded Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
The week-long programme concluded with the celebration of World Pharmacist Day on 25th September 2026, along with a Prize Distribution Ceremony to recognize and appreciate the achievements of the students in various competitions and activities. The ceremony was held in the presence of Director, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Pharmacy, Mr. Abhimanyu Katoch, along with Lecturer Attif Ur Rehman, Lecturer Varun Singh and Lecturer Sanjali Bakshi. Trophies, medals and prizes were presented to the winners and runner-up teams and students for their commendable performances.
The faculty members appreciated the enthusiasm, discipline and active participation of the students throughout the programme. The event also highlighted the important role of pharmacists in promoting the safe and rational use of medicines and ensuring patient safety.The management of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Pharmacy congratulated all the winners, participants, faculty members and staff for their valuable contribution towards making the 6th National Pharmacovigilance Week 2026 a successful and meaningful event. |
