JAMMU, Sept 26: The Fertilizer Wholesalers Meet 2026 was organised at Jammu today with the participation of fertilizer wholesalers, dealers, retailers, representatives of leading fertilizer companies and officers of the Agriculture Department.
Director Agriculture Jammu and Controller Fertilizer J&K, Shri Anil Gupta, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Director Law Enforcement J&K, S. Balbir Singh; Joint Director Agriculture (Extension) Jammu, Shri Idrees Bashir Ahmed; Assistant Director Law Enforcement Jammu, S. Kuldeep Singh; SSM, IFFCO J&K, Dr. D. K. Singh; SMS (DL), Shri Santosh Bhat; were among the senior officers present on the occasion.
State Heads and representatives of leading fertilizer companies, including Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited (CFCL), National Fertilizers Limited (NFL), Indian Potash Limited (IPL) and Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), besides fertilizer wholesalers, dealers, retailers and concerned officers of the Agriculture Department, participated in the meeting.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, followed by a welcome address by Shri Vivek Verma of IFFCO.
Addressing the gathering, Director Agriculture Jammu, Shri Anil Gupta, underscored the critical importance of maintaining an efficient, transparent and farmer-centric fertilizer supply chain across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that ensuring timely availability of quality fertilizers to farmers remains a priority of the Agriculture Department.
Anil Gupta emphasised the need for robust monitoring mechanisms to prevent misuse, hoarding, black marketing and other irregularities in the fertilizer distribution system. He called for close coordination between the Agriculture Department, fertilizer companies, wholesalers, dealers and retailers to ensure smooth and uninterrupted supply of fertilizers to farmers.
The Director instructed the concerned officers and representatives of fertilizer companies to ensure adequate stocking and timely supply of fertilizers across all districts as per demand. He further stressed the importance of maintaining complete transparency in distribution channels, strict adherence to prescribed regulatory norms and compilation of comprehensive and accurate district-wise data regarding fertilizer availability and consumption.
He directed the concerned officers to maintain strict vigilance against any misuse or irregularities and ensure prompt corrective action wherever required.
Anil Gupta laid special emphasis on creating greater awareness among farmers about Nano Urea and Nano DAP. He stated that coordinated efforts by fertilizer companies, wholesalers, retailers and the Agriculture Department are essential for effectively communicating the relevant features and application benefits of these products to the farming community.
The Director also interacted with fertilizer wholesalers and listened to their concerns and issues related to supply, distribution and field-level operations. He assured that genuine operational issues would be examined through the appropriate mechanism while reiterating the need for strict compliance with prescribed norms.
Anil Gupta also directed the Assistant Director Law Enforcement Jammu to share with fertilizer wholesalers the approved list of bio-fertilizers so that only authorised and quality-assured bio-fertilizer products are made available to farmers and the sale of unapproved or sub-standard products is prevented. |
