REASI, Sept 26: As part of the ongoing public outreach initiative "Thana Diwas", aimed at strengthening Police-Public relations and fostering greater community engagement, an interaction programme was organised today at the Community Hall, Arnas, in Sub-Division Arnas.
The programme was chaired by Sh. Mukund Tibrewal, IPS, SSP Reasi, and was attended by Sh. Updesh Kumar, SDPO Arnas; Inspr. Sureshwar Dev Singh, SHO Police Station Arnas, along with prominent members and representatives of civil society from Arnas and adjoining areas.
During the interaction, participants raised several issues pertaining to public welfare, policing and security, including the establishment and infrastructure of Police Posts at Panassa, Thanole, Dhansal, Kouri and Dharmari; provision of adequate ammunition to VDG members; poor road conditions within Sub-Division Arnas; establishment of a gymnasium for youth; and organisation of sports tournaments under the Civic Action Programme.
Responding to the concerns raised, SSP Reasi assured the participants that all genuine grievances pertaining to policing and public safety would be addressed on priority. He informed the gathering that infrastructure and establishment work for Police Station Panassa and Police Post Thanole is already underway.
He further informed that land has been identified for Police Posts at Dhansal and Kouri, with construction expected to commence shortly. The process of land identification for Police Post Dharmari is also underway and is being pursued with the competent authorities on priority.
Regarding the concerns of VDG members, SSP Reasi directed the SHO Police Station Arnas to ensure provision of sufficient ammunition to VDG members, with immediate action in this regard.
To promote positive engagement of youth and encourage sports activities, Volleyball and Kabaddi tournaments under the Civic Action Programme will be organised shortly in Arnas and adjoining areas. The proposal for establishment of a Gym Centre at Arnas will also be taken up for consideration.
During the programme, participants were also sensitised about the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and the Dial-112 Police Helpline. Awareness was created regarding the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of collective efforts by the Police and the community in combating the menace of drugs.
SSP Reasi also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and act as the eyes and ears of the security forces, urging them to promptly report any suspicious movement or activities of Anti-National Elements (ANEs) so that their nefarious designs can be effectively thwarted.
Such initiatives continue to play an important role in strengthening trust, transparency and collaborative problem-solving between the Police and the public. Reasi Police remains committed to proactive public engagement, responsive policing and working collectively towards the vision of a drug-free and secure society. |
