JAMMU, Sept 26: Senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Er. Gulam Ali Khatana today visited Sunjwan as part of the "Jan Se Desh Seva" programme, interacting with children, students, teachers, Anganwadi workers and local women and taking stock of welfare and educational activities at the grassroots level.
During his visit to the Anganwadi Centre at Chatta Morh, near the Matador Stand, Sunjwan, Er. Khatana reviewed the facilities available for children and interacted with Anganwadi workers and local women. He also tasted the nutritional food being served at the centre and appreciated the efforts of Anganwadi workers and frontline personnel engaged in child nutrition, early childhood care and women's welfare.
Interacting with mothers and women, Er. Khatana discussed various welfare initiatives and heard their experiences. He appreciated the initiatives of the Narendra Modi Government aimed at strengthening child nutrition, supporting mothers, empowering women and improving access to welfare services. Referring to Mission Poshan, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), Ladli Beti and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), he stressed the importance of effective implementation so that benefits reach eligible families at the grassroots level.
Later, Er. Khatana visited Government Higher Secondary School, Sunjwan, where he witnessed a drawing competition and a vibrant cultural programme presented by students. He distributed certificates among boys and girls who participated in competitions based on themes including environment, Artificial Intelligence, development in space, clean energy and Direct Benefit Transfer during the Modi Government's tenure.
Appreciating the students for their enthusiasm and creativity, Er. Khatana said such activities encourage young people to think beyond textbooks and develop awareness about issues shaping the future. He emphasized the positive use of technology and encouraged students to remain abreast of developments in Artificial Intelligence, space technology, clean energy and digital services.
Er. Khatana also stressed that modern education and traditional knowledge should complement each other. He encouraged the younger generation to pursue education in mathematics, science and humanities while respecting the skills, knowledge and traditional occupations associated with their families and communities.
Highlighting the importance of technology and digital governance, he said initiatives such as DBT have demonstrated the potential of technology to improve the delivery of government benefits directly to beneficiaries. He added that schools, Anganwadi centres and local communities are important platforms for building a healthy, educated and empowered generation.
Er. Khatana appreciated the students and teachers for organising the drawing competition and cultural programme and said that extracurricular activities, creativity and cultural exposure help develop confidence, discipline, curiosity and a sense of responsibility among students. He also appreciated teachers, Anganwadi workers, frontline personnel and local community members for their contribution towards education, child welfare and social development.
During the visit, CDPO, Dy. CEO, Principal GHSS Sunjwan, Ch. Razik Ali Putto, Ch. Naseeb Ali, Romesh, Ch. Ghum Rasool, Ch. Mohd Rafiq, Ch. Murad Ali, Ravinder, staff members of the school and senior citizens of Sunjwan were present.
He said that the vision of "Jan Se Desh Seva" is rooted in connecting public service with people's everyday concerns and ensuring that development reaches every section of society. He encouraged the younger generation to combine modern education, scientific thinking, technology and traditional values to contribute positively to the future development of Jammu and the nation. |
