CHANDIGARH, Sept 29: Students of Maharishi Dayanand Public School, Daria, Chandigarh, showcased their creativity and environmental consciousness through a 'Best from Waste' competition organised under the Swachhata Hi Seva-2026 campaign being conducted by NHPC Limited, a Navratna Public Sector Enterprise of the Government of India.
The campaign, being observed from September 17 to October 2, 2026, carries the message 'Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat'. The competition aimed to sensitise students towards cleanliness, environmental protection, recycling and the creative reuse of discarded materials.
Students demonstrated remarkable imagination and innovation by transforming waste and discarded materials into a variety of attractive and useful products. Their creations highlighted how waste can be given a new purpose through creative thinking and responsible practices. The activity also familiarised students with the principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (3Rs).
Aniket Mishra secured the first position for creating an attractive speaker from waste material, while Subhash Kumar won the second position for his aesthetically designed wall-hanging decorative item. Himanshu bagged the third position for a creatively designed clock.
Three consolation prizes were also awarded to encourage the participating students. Bhavin and Ashish were recognised for their Green City model, Lovepreet for an attractive flower pot, and Saumya for a beautiful wall-hanging decorative item.
On the occasion, NHPC DGM (Finance) Binod Kumar, Senior Manager (Finance) Vikas Pal, Manager (Civil) P.M. Tiwari and Senior Supervisor (Medical) Rajesh Kumar, along with other officials, were present.
DGM (Finance) Binod Kumar congratulated the students and teachers for their efforts and expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm displayed by the participants. He encouraged the students to continue taking an active part in activities promoting cleanliness, sustainability and environmental awareness.
Vice Principal Dr. Anju Moudgil expressed gratitude to the NHPC officials, teachers and students for their participation. She said that such activities foster creative thinking among children while simultaneously developing a sense of responsibility towards the environment. She emphasised that cleanliness should not remain confined to campaigns but should become an integral part of everyday life. |
