SHIMLA, Sept 29: In today's rapidly changing and challenging environment, the stewardship of a heritage all-boys boarding school demands more than tradition it demands renewal. For Old Cottonians, their alma mater means the world, as to every boy who is developing his formative years in this great and unique institution.
Yet, we cannot remain content or complacent, even with 167 years of legacy behind us. Forever proud, what must now propel BCS onward, forward, and higher is a new, dynamic Headmaster - one whose proven experience in boarding schools, contemporary vision, fresh strategies, and exceptional management skills will shape the next era of our school's history, where parents from Pan India look at BCS as their first choice for their sons.
With the unanimous Blessings of the Chairman His Grace Bishop Manoj Charan and the Board of Governors, it gives us great pleasure to announce:

Dr. Alfred brings to BCS the experience of IPSC all-boys boarding institutions, and a clear understanding of the values that define us: inquisitiveness, drive, team spirit and humility. He is excited and ready to uphold the 167-year legacy of BCS and to lead our boys into the future.
We place on record our proud and deep appreciation for the dedicated service of our current Headmaster, Mathew Prasad John, who has contributed over 12 years to the School over two stints, one as a young teacher in the nineties and then as Headmaster. He and his wife Mrs. Anuradha John have given of themselves to BCS, and we now bid them farewell with our sincere gratitude and best wishes for the years ahead.
The time has come for a new Headmaster to assume responsibility. The Board of Governors has resolved that the transition will take place in the final term of this academic year 2026, ensuring a full and dignified exchange of the baton. Headmaster Mathew P. John will give his unequivocal support to the incoming Headmaster-Designate, Dr. Rakesh Alfred, who is expected to be in situ before the end of this year, hence enabling him to enter the sacred grounds of BCS with confidence and clarity.
