Early Times Report DODA, Oct 3: As part of its continued drive to ensure road safety, traffic discipline and compliance with public health regulations, District Police Doda conducted enforcement drives across various Police Stations of the district. During the drive, police teams took action against 40 violations under the Motor Vehicles Act, besides seizing 01 vehicle for violation of relevant provisions. The action was carried out across Doda, Bhaderwah, Gandoh, Thathri and Assar areas. Simultaneously, continuing its drive against smoking in public places and violations of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), Police challaned 21 persons across the district and realised a total fine of Rs 1,850/-. The Police Station-wise action under COTPA included 09 challans at Doda, 02 at Gandoh, 05 at Thathri and 05 at Assar. During the enforcement activities, commuters and members of the general public were also sensitised regarding traffic rules, road safety measures and compliance with COTPA provisions. Doda Police appeals to the general public to strictly abide by traffic rules, avoid smoking in prohibited/public places and cooperate with Police in maintaining road safety and public order. |
