Jammu police cracks house burglary within hours; accused arrested, stolen gold worth Rs 15 lakh recovered by PS Satwari

JAMMU, Oct 6: Jammu Police has worked out a house burglary case within hours of its reporting, arresting the accused and recovering the entire stolen gold, worth around ?15 lakh.
Today, Police Post Gadigarh received a complaint from a resident of Banyan Enclave, Babliyana, stating that on returning home he found that an unknown person had broken into his house and stolen gold ornaments weighing approximately 9.5-10 tolas.
On this complaint, FIR No. 306/2026 under Sections 305 and 331(3) BNS was registered at Police Station Satwari and investigation was taken up.
Under the supervision of SP City South Jammu, a team of Police Post Gadigarh acted swiftly and, using technical and human intelligence, apprehended the accused, identified as Mukesh Kumar, S/o Subash Chander, R/o Sector 6, Gangyal, presently residing at Baba Farid Nagar, Seora.
The following stolen gold ornaments were recovered from his possession:
1. One gold necklace set with two danglers
2. One Inam gold set
3. One gold mangalsutra
4. One gold cocktail ring
5. Three gold tops
6. One gold ring
7. Two gold bangles
The recovered ornaments weigh about 9.5-10 tolas and are valued at approximately Rs 15 lakh. The complainant has identified all the items as his stolen property.
The accused is being questioned, and further investigation is in progress to ascertain his involvement in other similar cases.
Jammu Police appeals to the public to secure their homes and valuables when leaving the house unattended and to immediately report any suspicious person or activity to the nearest police station or on 112.
