Passengers' Health is Paramount: Special cleanliness drive for purity of drinking water in Jammu division
10/7/2026 10:36:53 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 7: The Jammu Division of Northern Railway is extremely serious about providing completely clean and bacteria-free water to rail passengers and its employees. With this objective, a special water sanitation campaign is being run across the entire division.
Under this, deep cleaning and sanitization of water tanks is being carried out on a war-footing at all railway stations, railway colonies, pump houses and coaching depots falling under the Jammu Division.
It is noteworthy that since the formation of the Jammu Division in the year 2025, the process of checking water quality has been continuing consistently. Taking this sequence forward, during the current campaign so far, 527 Residual Chlorination tests, 46 Bacteriological tests and 46 Aqua Vial and Chemical tests* of water have been completed. The reassuring fact is that in all the tests, the water samples have been found to be completely safe and satisfactory.
Strict measures are also being taken to protect water sources from external pollution. The administration is ensuring that all underground and overhead water tanks are completely sealed and covered. In addition, to fully secure open water sources, strong iron netting is being installed over them so that dust or any external element cannot contaminate the water.
Through this special campaign, Jammu Division is keeping a close watch on the safety of water storage, cleanliness and regular monitoring of water, so that only pure drinking water reaches every passenger.
