Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 10: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu & Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO) continued its participation in the "Gatisheel Jammu & Kashmir 2.0" Exhibition held in Jammu from 28 to 30 September 2026, showcasing its initiatives in the areas of standardization, quality assurance, conformity assessment and consumer awareness. As part of its student outreach initiative, BIS sponsored exposure visits for 635 students from 25 BIS Standard Clubs over the three-day period, enabling students from schools across the Jammu Region, including far-flung and hilly areas, to visit the exhibition and gain firsthand exposure to government departments, Public Sector Undertakings, government agencies and other participating organizations. On the third day, 254 students from nine BIS Standard Clubs participated in the exposure visit. The students also visited the Jammu & Kashmir Branch Laboratory (JKBL) , where they learned about gold testing, XRF technology, assaying, parting and hallmarking. The initiative provided students with an opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world applications and understand the importance of quality, safety and standards in everyday life. BIS Continues Participation in Gatisheel Jammu & Kashmir 2.0 During the third day of the exhibition, Shri Saaqib Raahi, Scientist-C/Deputy Director, BIS JKBO, visited the BIS stall and interacted with visitors and students. - The BIS stall was also visited by Hon'ble Member of Parliament Shri Jugal Kishore Sharma, who appreciated the efforts of the Bureau of Indian Standards in promoting quality consciousness among young minds through its Standard Club activities and student-oriented initiatives. He appreciated the contribution of BIS towards creating awareness among students about standards, quality, safety and consumer awareness, and acknowledged the importance of such initiatives in nurturing a culture of quality consciousness among the younger generation. |
