| Pantnagar University Takes Historic Initiative to Make Education Industry-Oriented | | | Early Times Report PANTNAGAR, Oct 26: Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT), Pantnagar has taken a significant initiative to make education more industry-oriented, practical and employment-focused. The university plans to introduce the concept of bridge courses across all academic programmes, enabling students to interact with industry experts and successful entrepreneurs during their studies. The initiative aims to equip students with practical knowledge and prepare them for employment and entrepreneurship. In this connection, a press conference was organized under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shivendra Kumar Kashyap with the representatives of print and electronic media. Under this initiative, under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shivendra Kumar Kashyap, students from Agriculture, Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Technology, Community Science, Fisheries, Agribusiness Management, Basic Science and Humanities, and other disciplines will be connected with experts from their respective industries. These experts will guide students on industrial opportunities, market demands, startup development and career prospects. For instance, students of food technology will receive guidance from food processing companies, while students of seed science will interact with entrepreneurs associated with the seed industry. This engagement will help students gain a better understanding of the practical aspects of their subjects and the evolving requirements of the industrial sector. The university's Learned Faculty Members and Faculty Development Centre have been working on implementing this initiative for the past six months. With the cooperation of the Deans and Heads of Departments of all constituent colleges, a database of leading industries and successful entrepreneurs from across the country has been prepared. Each department has identified 10 to 15 prominent industries and entrepreneurs relevant to its discipline. As a result, the university has developed a network of more than 500 industry experts. According to the Vice-Chancellor, the initiative will go beyond conventional guest lectures and provide students with support through regular interactions, project evaluation, internships and placement opportunities. Industry experts will engage with students through both online and offline modes. Their suggestions will also help the university update its curricula in accordance with the changing needs of the industrial sector. The university plans to launch this initiative from the current semester. As part of the programme, interactive sessions with industry experts will be organized across all colleges. This will enable students to understand industrial operations, market requirements and employment opportunities even before completing their degrees. The initiative is expected to play an important role in making education more practical and employment-oriented while fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among students. The programme was conducted by Dr. J.P. Jaiswal, Director of Communication, GBPUAT, Pantnagar. |
