Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 27: 'Paan Aur Palash', a book by Himanshu Dubey, a Hindi journalism student at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Jammu, was released at the institute. The book attempts to explore human emotions, relationships, struggles and the realities of life through two symbolic elements. It portrays paan (betel leaf) as a symbol of love, belonging, tenderness, and sensitivity, while palash (flame-of-the-forest flower) represents struggle, resilience, responsibilities, and the will to live through difficult circumstances. Speaking at the book release, IIMC Regional Director Dilip Kumar said that Himanshu Dubey's writing would inspire other students. He noted that a creative inclination and efforts in writing encourage an author to express ideas in words and motivate them to move forward. Neha Jalali, Director (Admin), congratulated Himanshu on his book and announced that books written by students would be given a special display at the institute's library. During the programme, Professor Anil Saumitra commented on the book's subject and its ideological background, emphasizing the need to view it in the context of experiences of life and society. He urged readers to understand the book's central idea and its symbolic meanings. Dr. Vinit Utpal, Assistant Professor at the institute, said that the sincerity and intensity with which the author had woven episodes from his youth into words vividly captured the experiences and emotions of Generation Z, including those related to life, career, and first love. Students from the New Media Communication, Hindi Journalism, and English Journalism programmes at IIMC Jammu attended the event, along with faculty members Shruti Arora, Shalini Paul, and others.
