Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 3: The Crime Branch (Economic Offences Wing), Jammu, has filed a chargesheet before the Hon'ble Additional Sessions Judge, Anti-Corruption Court, Jammu, in case FIR No. 11/2013 under Sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B RPC, r/w 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, regarding the alleged fraudulent procurement of Permanent Resident Certificates (PRCs).
The case originated from a complaint alleging that Lakhan Singh, originally a West Pakistan Refugee from Sialkot, fraudulently obtained PRCs for himself and his family after shifting from Punjab to Jammu by fabricating census records and lineage details in connivance with revenue officials.
Investigation led by Dy.SP Faisal Arif Rishu revealed that the allegedly forged certificates were used by his sons, Prem Singh, to secure government employment in the Estates Department and Prabhakar Singh, to contest and serve twice as a Sarpanch.
Although the main accused, Lakhan Singh retired employee of PDD department (now expired), and Sat Paul Gupta the then Tehsildar Jammu(now expired), the investigation established alleged criminal involvement of the surviving accused, Prem Singh (retired from Estates department) and Prabhakar Singh (Ex-Sarpanch). Accordingly, the chargesheet has been submitted before the Hon'ble Additional Sessions Judge, Anti- Corruption Court, Jammu against all four accused for judicial proceedings.
SSP Crime Branch EOW Jammu advises general public to remain vigilant against such economic frauds and report any such incident to Crime Branch EOW Jammu (Crime Branch, J&K). Victims of economic frauds may also submit their complaints via email at [email protected] or contact on telephone No. 0191-2578901.
