| Rs 34 cr for agriculture devlopment | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, June 24 –Planning Commission of India has allocated Rs 34 crore to Jammu and Kashmir as first instalment under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) to boost agriculture production and crop yield rate in the state. This was stated by Principal Advisor (Agriculture), Planning Commission, Mr. L. Rynjah while chairing a high level meeting of Agriculture Department and its allied sectors here today. The Principal Advisor stressed on agriculture activities and widening scope of Command Area Development. He said Command Area Development has a vital role in boosting crop productivity and increasing farm activities in the State. Rynjah said that the Commission was keen to extent further funding under RKVY while seeking comprehensive agriculture related projects from the state for the purpose. He also underlined the importance of judicious utilization of funds, which, he s aid paves the way for additional grants besides taking a lead toward achieving self-sufficiency in agriculture. Director Agriculture Planning Commission, Mr. Daljeet Singh, Special Secretary Agriculture, Mr. M. Y. Dar, Director Command Area Development, Kashmir Dr. G. H.
