EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, JUNE 24 – In order to make Education Satellite (EDUSAT) programme operational, Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah today approved creation of 12 posts of Assistant Engineers, Technical Assistants, Editor-cum-Studio Assistants, EDUSAT Assistants and orderlies in the Education Department. The programme is aimed at promoting quality education in educational institutions by establishing link stations, satellite interactive terminals, built-in spaces/studios and other facilities for transmitting lectures from one educational institute to other through satellite system.
The operation of the scheme was yet to take off for want of necessary staff. The Chief Minister today approved creation of 2 Assistant Engineers in the pay scale of Rs. 8,000-13,200, 4 Technical Assistants in pay scale of Rs. 4,500-7,000, 2 Editor-cum-Studio Assistants in the pay scale of 6,500-10,500, 2 EDUSAT Assistant in the pay scale of Rs. 4,000-6,000 and 2 orderlies in pay scale of Rs. 2,550-3,200 so that benefits of the programme reach the students.
