| Rs. 5 cr for modernization of Lakhanpur Toll Plaza | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, JUNE 24 – Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah today released Rs. 5 crore for Toll Plaza coming up at Lakhanpur on modern lines to streamline traffic and help smoothen collection of toll.
The Lakhanpur Toll Plaza project was approved on January 31, 2006 and in the first instance, an amount of Rs. 3.50 crore was released for its construction and subsequently Rs. 10 crore were also released during 2007-08.
In order to speed up construction work and help its early completion, Chief Minister approved release of another Rs. 5 crore for the project.
When completed, all the import activities would be shifted from old Toll Centre to the New Plaza where there will be adequate and modern facilities for parking of trucks and vehicles, weigh bridges, resting places for drivers, sanitation and recreational facilities for tourists.
