| Mufti condole Saraf’ demise | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 25 People’s Democratic Party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has expressed grief on the demise of Ram Piara Saraf. In a statement issued today, the party patron condoled the demise of the veteran politician and journalist and expressed his sympathies with the bereaved family. Remembering Saraf, Mufti hailed his contribution to the diversification of the moderate political space within the state. Mufti Sayeed praised Saraf’s credentials as a senior journalist and his efforts in mobilising the working class. ‘Saraf played a crucial role in the post partition rehabilitation of victims of violence in Jammu and was an epitome of secularism’, he added. Mufti said, in addition to his intellectual contribution, Saraf has left behind an outstanding legacy of secularism and positive politics in the state and he would be duly missed. PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti, said, his demise has created a void in the state’s political and intellectual space. Senior party leaders Muzzafar Hussain Baig, Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari and general secretay Muhammad Dilawar Mir , Ab Aziz Zargar , Ab Rehman Veeri, Mohd Sartaj Madni and Mohd Khalil Bandh also expressed grief at the passing away of R P Saraf.
