| Chaman reacts to Vice President’s remarks | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 25- BJP legislators’ party leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has taken strong exception to the statement of Vice-President of India, Mohammed Hamid Ansari, at the Kashmir University Convocation that Prime Minister has agreed for implementation of recommendations of the Working Group, which was earlier headed by him (Ansari) suggesting CBM in Jammu Kashmir. In a statement issued here today Prof Gupta observed that it was unfortunate that the person holding very high office of the country has chosen the venue of Convocation to announce the implementation of the measures which are highly contentious and controversial in nature but little known even to the members of this Working Group. He said that whatever had surfaced through Media about the suggestions made by the Chairman of this Working Group was not only highly controversial but also did not commensurate with the views expressed by him (Prof. Gupta) and some others during the discussions in the meetings of the Working Group, he added. Prof. Gupta, who was a member of this WG to represent the BJP in the meetings of this Group, had made several suggestions to improve the situation in the troubled State of Jammu and Kashmir. It was made amply clear that in Jammu and Kashmir the main problem is the proxy war launched by Pakistan and their cross border terror. Any steps or loose talk would not serve. It would rather encourage the elements of secessionism and fundamentalism who have been dancing at the tunes of forces operating from elsewhere.
