| Acute water security in Kathua alleged | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 26: Two senior congress leader, MLA Dr. Manoharlal and MLC Dr. Subash Gupta today called on minister for PHE, Irrigation and flood control Taj Mohi-ud-Din at Srinagar (Kashmir) and apprised him about the acquate shortage of drinking and irrigation water in the entire district of Kathua. They said that the entire district Kathua is suffering from shortage of drinking water, while most of the hand pumps and PHE schemes have stopped functioning as the water level has gone down. They demanded that more tankers should be pressed into service in Kathua district as an immediate measure, besides defective hand pumps should be repaired. Legislators also demanded construction of protection bandhs on the sides of Bhag nalla as the water sink from river Ujh into Bhag nalla. As per press release minister gave patient hearing to the demands and assured them that he will personally look into all these problems and take adequate measures to ameliorate people’s problems of Kathua district as early as possible.
