6/26/2009 11:19:16 PM
Early Times Report
RAJOURI, JUNE 26: The Department of Agriculture has established three Apiculture Demonstration Centres in Rajouri district at Lamberi, Bagnoti and Jaba in Nowshera tehsils of Rajouri district which house 210 Italian Bee colonies.
During the last financial year, the department registered 320.74 quintals honey production. The production includes 20.74 quintals honey through department and 300 quintals honey through private parties.
Pertinent to mention here that department is putting all out efforts to boost the apiculture in the district as it not only provides employment opportunities to the rural youth but act as a supplementary activity for the farmers. There is a great scope of exploitation of forest flora for honey production.
