| Court orders arrest of SHO Bishnah for custody torture | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 26: In a case of alleged Police excesses, torture in custody and denial of bail despite court orders, a local court has direct the Senior Superintendent of Jammu Police to arrest the Station House Police Officer of Bishnah and produce him in court for hearing. This is rare case of its kind happened in Jammu even as many such complaints are reported in the Kashmir Valley. On a complaint filed by one Vishal Sajgotria against SHO Police station Bishnah under sections 323/342/506 RPC, the Special Railway Magistrate RS Jasrotia today directed Senior Superintendent of Police Jammu to arrest the accused namely Neeraj Bhagat SHO Bishnah and produce him before the Court on or before next date of hearing. Sources said that two youth bikers identified as Vishal and Rajan Sharma had an accident another youth identified as Sunil Kumar few days back in Bishnah area. Incidentally Sunil Kumar happens to be son of Bishnah Police Station’s former Munshi identified as Nek Ram. He is a resident of Trikuta Nagar. Both parties involved in the accident reported the case before Police Station Bishnah. Vishal and Rajan alleged that the SHO favoured the Munshi’s son and therefore beat them up mercilessly. They applied for bail which was granted to them but still they were not let off from the lockup. The two youth further alleged that they were help up in the Police Station for full one day after serving of the bail documents to the Station House Officer and during that time the accused Police officer again beat them.
