| Centre to review PM's package in J&K | | | Agencies New Delhi, July 02: The Centre will review the action taken by Jammu and Kashmir to implement the Prime Minister's package announced last year for the state by the end of this month. According to the Home Ministry Action Plan II, the Centre will fix the milestones and timeline for the implementation of the package with the state government. The Prime Minister's package, which was announced on April 25, 2008, includes return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants, one-time compensation of Rs five lakh to the next of kin of civilians killed in militancy related incidents in lieu of compassionate appointment and enhanced monthly pension to widows who are victims of militancy. Scholarship to all orphans without discrimination, special dispensation for West Pakistan refugees and package for settlement of pending claims of displaced persons from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir also include in the package. The Ministry also set a timeline of July 31 for the relocation of Central Paramilitary Forces from public premises presently occupied by them and rationalisation of CPMF deployed in Jammu and Kashmir. Progress on the construction of 5,442 two-roomed tenements for Kashmiri migrants in Jammu will be reviewed with the state government by August 31. By the end of this month a detailed review will be undertaken with the state government and Central ministries on the implementation PM's Reconstruction Plan.
