| Petro hike: Lok Sabha adjourned for the day over rollback demand | | | Agencies
New Delhi, Jul 2
The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day today in the post-lunch session following persistent demands by the agitated Members that the Government should roll back the price hike of petrol and diesel.
The entire Opposition was on its feet when the House assembled after Lunch. Members belonging to BSP, SP, CPI, CPI(M), BJD, AIADMK and SAD entered the well of the House demanding an immediate announcement from the Government on the rollback of price hike of petrol and diesel.
Deputy Speaker Karia Munda requested the Members to go back to their seats and allow the house to take up the 377 issues pertaining to the cases of Members constituencies.
Even the ruling alliance partner Lalu Prasad of the RJD was seen supporting the opposition on this issue by standing on his allocated seat area and demanding a rollback of the price hike.
The Members were raising slogans like " diesel price ke dam wapas lo" ( withdraw the price hike on diesel) and " yaa sarkar nahe chaleghi" ( this governemnt will not last).
At this point, the Deputy Speaker was forced to declare the House adjourned for the day.
