EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 2: In view of the growing challenges, the state government has constituted a high profile board for the wildlife which if to be headed by the Chief Minister and has members drawn from government, technical areas and representatives of stakeholders from the Gujjar community Meanwhile, the Government has also accorded sanction to the constitution of two committees viz (First Committee and High Level Committee) for preparation of Draft Forest Policy for the state. Member Secretary, PCB, Mohit Gera would be the Chairman of the First Committee while as Vasu Yadan has been nominated as Member Secretary. Similarly, MA Tak, NA Darzi, RS Jasrotia and a representative of Wildlife Department will be members of the committee. The draft prepared by the Forest Committee shall be referred to the High Level Committee (HCL) for examination and finalization. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests will be Chairman of HLC, Conservator of Forests, Central Circle its member Secretary and the Chief Conservator of Forest, Jammu and Chief Wildlife Warden will be its members. According to a notification, the Government has constituted State Board for Wildlife in exercise of the powers conferred by Section-5 of the Jammu and Kashmir Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1978 and in supersession of all previous orders on the subject. The Chief Minister will be Chairperson of the Board and Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology its vice-chairman. Other members of the Board include Chief Secretary, MLA Langate, Engineer Abdul Rashid, MLA, Nasir Sogami, MLC, Abdul Gani Vakil, Chairperson, Wildlife Trust of India, New Delhi, President wildlife SOS New Delhi, Chairperson Worldwide Fund for Nature-India, retired PCCF and CWLW, Mr. A.R. Wani, retired PCCF and CWLW, Mr. P.P. Sharma, retired chairman PCB, Mr. C.M. Seith, Mr. Gulzar Bajar (ST), Choudhary Mohammad Rafiq Boken, (ST), Commissioner/Secretary Forest, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Commissioner/Secretary Social Welfare, Secretary Tourism, Director General of Police or his representative not below the rank of IGP, General Officer Commanding, Northern Command or his representative of the rank of Brigadier, Secretary Animal/Sheep Husbandry, Head of the Fisheries Department, Additional Director General of Forest (wildlife) Government of India, New Delhi or his representative of the rank of DIG Forest, Director Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, Director Botanical Survey of India, Director, Zoological Survey of India. The Chief Wildlife Warden, will be member Secretary of the Board.
