| Govt handling Valley situation in childish manner: Chaman | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 3: Voiding his serious concern over the developments in the troubled valley the leader of the BJP legislators party, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has termed the government measures to tackle the situation as childish which would lead to more problems rather than any solution to the menace of secessionism and terrorism. He has also asked the concerned authorities to take immediate note of the reports that hooligans are attacking the vehicles and their drivers of Jammu in the valley while going and coming back to Jammu area from in Leh as these could have serious repercussions. Prof Gupta said in a statement that the manner in which certain unfortunate parents are being given twist in Kashmir clearly indicate that while separatists are out to cause trouble to suit their ends, the regional outfits of the ruling National conference and opposition PDP are out in a rat race to carry forward the agenda of anti-national elements, who are trying to malign the forces with a design to help those who are indulging in proxy war against India in this state for the past about two decades now. But instead of dealing such elements with firm hands, the government leaders employing strange approach to appease the secessionists and elements inimical to the national interest, he added and pointed out that nothing can be more ridiculous than that of paramilitary forces under pressure are being replaced with local police although general norms, are that when the police fails to tackle any law and order problem, first, the paramilitary forces are deployed and if things do not come under control the army is called to assist the administration. But in a childish manner in Kashmir first the army was removed and then the CRPF is being replaced by police, which is strange phenomenon. This would not only encourage the secessionists and anti-national but also can effect the morale of the forces which have been fighting the terrorists in a complex situation. Prof. Gupta said that the police is meant for normal law and order situation but the manner in which the things have been taking shape in the troubled Kashmir, it sounds strange the CRPF is being replaced with police with police just to appease those who are behind the trouble. The BJP leader said that people had many expectations from the new government but this coalition is providing much worse than even the previous one. In the valley of Kashmir the secessionism and anti-national are assuring new heights, elsewhere, especially in Jammu areas there in a spate of anti-government demonstrations, hartals, dharnas etc, as this coalition is badly falling to keep up its lost promises and sorting out even the basic problems like tat of drinking water, electricity, employment payment of the salaries and wages of the workers. And there appear choastic conditions all round, which is not good for health of any government. He held the congress more responsible for this messy situation because of having developed craze to stick to power, whether PDP or to play second fiddle to the NC
