Kashmiri Pandit artists return to Jammu, shares their experiences

Jammu, July 3: Most effected people of the valley ‘Kashmiri Pandits’ deprived of their home, neighbourers, friends, relatives, culture, rituals and many of memories lying with them. After the migration Pandits have to tell their new generation about their home, village, streets, cultures, rituals, customs, brotherhood and unity among the Hindus and Muslims of the valley living like brothers since thousands of years together. How they celebrate Eid, Shivratri, how they sing, dance and celebrate every moment of joy before 1990. The present generation of Kashmiri Pandits born here at Jammu, Delhi and other parts of the country were strange & excited to know about their culture and home land ‘Kashmir’ through their Grandfathers and grandmothers. They were curious and were dreaming day and night to visit and see the heaven on earth, their own motherland ‘Kashmir’.
At last after the gap of 27 years for the firs time the bream of visiting their home in valley come true.
Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages who also have the mission to provide an opportunity to the migrant children not only to visit Kashmir but also to make aware of the Kashmiri youth about their culture and tradition of equality, unity and brotherhood. In Srinagar, he said that these migrant artists who performed the Kashmiri folk music and dance items are here not for the sake of entertainment only but these young artists are here with a mission and message that the real identity of Kashmir is Kashmiriat which is incomplete without Kashmiri Pandits who have migrated from the valley. Krishan Langoo, the famous music director, who accompanied the artists said in an interaction session that this idea of ‘Mouj Kashir’ a cultural extravaganza in which the real Kashmir and Kashmiriat has been portraited in which the poetry of Lalldyed, was presented in the beginning in which the real character of truthfulness and god fearing Kashmiri was showcased. Besides this the songs of the renowned Kashmiri poets like Moti Lal Saki, Dina Nath Nadim, Abdul Ahad Azad and Sufianan Mousiquee and Sufianan fold dance ‘Hafiz Nagma’ were performed on the stage of Tagore Hall.
This show was also presented in the Abhinav Theatre in the 24th of April 2009 and the program was also well appreciated by the jam-packed Abhinav Theatre at Jammu.
He further said that the evening of 28th June, 2009 became a history when the young artists of migrant Kashmiri Pandits of the age of 07 years to 17 years performed the Kashmiri folk music and dance performances. For the first time after the gap of 20 years the people of the valley came to witness the program in the Tagore Hall with their families. The audience received these young artists with great applause and appreciated each and every time. While witnessing the tragic scene of migration every eye in the Targore Hall was having tears and worries while feeling the grievances and worries of their own Pandit brothers.
Disha Handoo Bulbul, the leading artist said that the J&K academy of art, culture and languages made all the arrangements to provide the opportunity to the young artists to interact with the locals, to visit the Mugal Gardens, Dal Lake, Kheer Bhawani, Manasbal Lake, Mattan, Botanical Garden, Chashmashahi, Shankercharya Parbat and other beautiful spots also. Dr. Amandeep Singh Amn, conducted the interaction programme.
